Fake?Real? “Clout Chasing?”

Lets just start with definition

FAKE… means not genuine or counterfit.

REAL…means genuine, actually existing as a thing or occurring in fact; not imagined or supposed.

CLOUT CHASING…Urban Dictionary defines “clout chaser” as “a person that only hangs with certain people or starts beef with people to gain popularity.”

Now that we’ve gotten to this point. I’ll explain as best I can. With no intention of offending anyone. I had started a blog previously this morning, brain locked on an idea of what to blog about. I knew I had to be quick as I understood some rain was coming and once it got here, it was to rain all day. So I paused my blog. It was just a rambling of nothingness anyway. Went to the store got what I needed and headed back home. I was listening to the radio, well, more like flipping through stations trying to find music that would fill the empty spaces. When I stumbled upon a radio station and one DJ was talking about a video that supposedly went viral on tiktok. It was a wedding proposal. The way she explained it was….Right after the proposal, another man wonders into the shot making some sort of confession about a drunken night and a hit and run.

I have posted a link to the video. Which brings me to the title of this blog. Is this real? Is this really good editing? Why is his voice so crisp and clear, you don’t hear any nature sounds in the background? Is this a clout chasing video? But one thing I have noticed with these tiktok videos. When you see an account with a huge following, BUT only have one or two videos up, you really have to question, ” how REAL is this video?”.

I came from an age where if you wanted or needed information, you typically went to a library. You used the Dewey Decimal System JUST to look where to find the information you’re looking for. THEN you have to locate that section in the library. THEN you had to find where the numbers started to know which direction you needed to go to get to the book. NOW you can look in the book, read said book in order to find an answer. Now a days you got google. Have a question just ask google BAM! you have your answer.

Then there’s this magical place called HOLLYWOOD. Everybody wants to be famous. They want notoriety. They want fame and fortune. We see the things they can do in this magical place. Although in my opinion there hasn’t been much “creativity” going on here lately. And it’s not because of the pandemic. It’s just the writers seem to be lacking in creativity. Movies are not as good as they used to be. But that’s just my opinion. Now just about EVERYTHING is on social media with hopes of going “viral” and becoming famous. Stuff that should be kept personal is laid out for the world to see. It just seems the line between reality and what is supposed to be “entertainment” is getting blurred. Jokes aren’t funny anymore because someone got offended. A cry for help is now considered a weakness. A mistake is turned into a meme.

Then you have clout chasers. Clearly I am no writer. I have rambled on so much I seem to have gotten of topic about this blog.

My point that I’m trying to make is. Have we as a society been gaslighted so much, that we cannot separate entertainment, from reality. Have we wanted notoriety so badly that we post fake videos JUST for clout?

If you see this and read to this point please comment if you think this is real or not and why you believe it’s real or why you don’t believe it to be real. I would really appreciate your thoughts thank you have a wonderful day
